Phoenix Children's Hospital (PCH) is recruiting a Pediatric Rheumatologist. This is
a unique opportunity to initiate and develop a Rheumatology division within
Phoenix Children's Medical Group (PCMG). Arizona is one of 11 states that does not currently have a
Pediatric Rheumatologist.
The position is expected to be predominantly clinical patient care although
the successful candidate is expected to teach Pediatric Residents in our
training program and medical students from the University of Arizona. Research opportunity exists but is not mandatory. Collegiality,
intellectual stimulation and cross-coverage will be in conjunction with the
Arizona Arthritis and Rheumatology Associates (AARA).
Phoenix is now the fifth largest city in the US and continues to grow rapidly. PCH is the only free-standing children's hospital in Arizona; we opened our new 300 bed facility in 2002. PCMG
employs approximately 70 physicians and 20 PNP's. We have strong relationships with other
Pediatric Specialty and Surgical groups in private practice on our campus.
The categorical Pediatric Residency has just expanded to 21 interns per year
and we provide education to the Med-Peds Residency at Banner Good Samaritan
(6 residents per year). Academic appointment is available through the University of Arizona. There is strong support for Pediatric Rheumatology from the Arizona
Arthritis Foundation in addition to PCH and AARA.
PCH is an equal opportunity employer. Compensation is
commensurate with training and experience with a competitive benefits
package. Candidates must have or be eligible for medical licensure in the state
of Arizona and be board eligible or certified in Pediatric
Rheumatology. Welcome to Phoenix!

Private practice Rheumatology position,
preferably recent graduate, with established pediatric orthopedic surgeon in Plano, Texas. Plano is a suburb of Dallas with a population of 400K and an average age of 31
years. The nearest, and only, pediatric rheumatologist is in Dallas and serves both the Dallas and Fort-Worth cities. The next nearest pediatric
rheumatologists are in Oklahoma City and Houston, both are more than two hours away. As a result,
this one rheumatologist in Dallas has over a six month waiting list. The practice is
in a well-established hospital that specializes in high quality medical care,
with the largest private practice neonatal intensive care unit in the area.
The hospital has a significant pediatric staff (over 40), and all pediatric
sub-specialists. A significant demand for pediatric rheumatology exists in
this area and at the hospital. The hospital and community are making a very
good offer for the qualified applicant.
My own practice includes the entire
spectrum of pediatric orthopedics, including trauma, all types of fractures,
bone tumors (malignant and benign), soft tissue injuries, scoliosis, and hip
dysplasia. A significant demand for pediatric rheumatology exists in the area
and at the hospital. A large part of my practice is seeing and evaluating
children with arthritic symptoms and taking care of them while waiting on the
one rheumatologist to see them. There is such a demand for pediatric
rheumatology that the hospital and community are making a very good offer for
the qualified applicant.
